Good moning hemin1! I'll bet I was up earlier than you were, you little night owl you! little black feathers needs to know if Chief Black Cloud and William David Black are the same dude. That is the million dollar question! There would need to be an Indian census page with both names in the same line, or a history with references which states they are the same person. Get goin' girl! :-)

According to little black feather, her ancestor was a Cherokee. On one of the websites I checked, his line comes from Alabama. he also had two daughters, Ellen and Rebecca. According to references, re. the Trail of Tears, themajority of the cherokees wound up in Oklahoma, some in Alabama, some in Tennessee, and others in Arkansas. A small number of them returned to Florida. Only small or little black feathers knows if the information on the names I found and posted above, is her ancestor. Plus, I can't go any further unless she will post what information(vital data) she has, on both sides of her family as far back as she can go. and she needs to register.

There were several Chief Black Clouds. You are correct hermin1, it is the Cherokee one that is in question.

vicky: her William David black was not Indian , but white, as was his parents, his wife's parents, his son Isreal and Israel's wife and her parents.since small blaxck feathers won't tell us anything about her parents, I can only assume that one or both of them is Indian. hang on to the information I just sent you in case she comes back on the web site.My hands are really hurting, I have been working on trees all day. Huff puff Puff.

I just found out a few moments ago through FamilySearch.org, that I seem to be a descendant of Chief Black Cloud. Grace Miller (reference the pdf that hermin1 posted) was my Great Grandmother. She lived in Perry County, just like her great grandmother, Rebecca Brazier did.
